Heat Resistant Glass 5 mm ROBAX – Stove & Fireplace Glass
5 mm heat-resistant glass is a durable ceramic glass designed for fireplaces, wood stoves and other high-temperature appliances. It is made from original ROBAX® ceramic glass by SCHOTT, offering premium German quality and heat resistance up to 1100 °C.
Compared to standard 4 mm fireplace glass, the 5 mm thickness provides higher mechanical strength, making it ideal for larger fireplace doors and bigger glass panels. The glass panel is flat and identical on both sides, so it does not matter which side faces the fire.
It is suitable for fireplaces, stove doors, pizza ovens, gas or electric ovens and other high-temperature equipment.
Each glass panel is cut to size according to the dimensions you enter in millimetres (mm). Width and height can be swapped.

Heat-Resistant Ceramic Glass 5 mm
5 mm heat-resistant ROBAX ceramic glass is designed for fireplaces, wood-burning stoves and other heating appliances exposed to very high temperatures. The glass is manufactured from original ROBAX® ceramic glass, a premium material developed in Germany for use in fireplace viewing panels and high-temperature applications.
Thanks to its special glass-ceramic structure, ROBAX glass has extremely low thermal expansion, excellent resistance to thermal shock and outstanding dimensional stability even under intense heat.
The material can withstand temperatures up to 1100 °C, making it ideal for fireplace doors and stove windows where ordinary tempered glass would fail.
When to choose 5 mm fireplace glass
The 5 mm thickness is recommended mainly for:
- larger fireplace doors
- bigger stove glass panels
- installations requiring higher mechanical strength
- situations where additional durability is preferred
For standard fireplaces and smaller stove doors, 4 mm heat-resistant glass is usually sufficient. However, many customers choose 5 mm glass for added strength especially with larger dimensions.
Premium German Quality – ROBAX® Ceramic Glass
ROBAX® ceramic glass is considered one of the most reliable heat-resistant materials used in heating appliances.
Key advantages include:
- heat resistance up to 1100 °C
- near-zero thermal expansion
- excellent resistance to thermal shock
- high mechanical stability
- crystal-clear view of the flames
- efficient heat radiation into the room
This ceramic glass is widely used by fireplace and stove manufacturers across Europe. You can find more about the SCHOTT brand on their official website.
Applications
Heat-resistant ceramic glass is suitable for many heating appliances and high-temperature environments:
- fireplaces and wood-burning stoves
- fireplace inserts
- pizza and bread ovens
- electric and gas ovens
- sauna heaters
- industrial heating equipment
The glass allows a clear view of the flames while safely containing the fire inside the appliance.
Custom Cut-to-Size Production
Every glass panel is manufactured individually according to the dimensions you enter.
For best accuracy, we recommend entering dimensions in millimetres (mm) and carefully measuring your original glass before ordering.
Width and height can be entered in any order.
Example:
For a glass size of 40 × 40 cm, enter 400 × 400 mm.
Edge Types
By default, the glass is supplied with standard cut edges.
You can choose between several edge options:
Seamed Edges – safer and slightly smoothed edges
Ground Edges – professional appearance and higher precision
Alternative Fireplace Glass Option
If you are looking for a slightly thinner and more common option, we also offer 4 mm heat-resistant fireplace glass, which is widely used for standard fireplace doors and stove windows.
The 4 mm heat-resistant glass is the most commonly used thickness for fireplaces and stoves and is fully sufficient for most standard applications. It provides excellent heat resistance up to 800 °C while allowing a clear view of the flames.
The 5 mm version is typically chosen for larger glass panels or installations where higher mechanical strength is preferred.
If you want easier maintenance and cleaner glass during operation, we also offer self-cleaning heat-resistant fireplace glass, designed to reduce soot buildup and keep the view of the flames clearer.
For a more modern appearance, you can choose NightFlame tinted heat-resistant glass, which has a darker look when the fireplace is off but becomes transparent once the fire is burning.
All our fireplace glasses are cut to size according to your exact dimensions and manufactured from premium ROBAX ceramic glass designed for high-temperature applications.
Important Installation Recommendations
When installing heat-resistant glass, it is important to use flat self-adhesive sealing tape 10×2 mm or 10×4 mm. The glass must never come into direct contact with the metal frame or stove body.
Place the sealing tape not only on the frame or glass but also on any clips, brackets or mounting parts to ensure the glass is fully isolated from metal components.
Tighten screws and fixing clips carefully and never overtighten them. Excessive pressure on the glass may cause it to crack.
Incorrect installation is one of the most common causes of glass breakage.
When handling glass panels, always work carefully and consider wearing protective gloves.
